Building a Stronger Community: The Role of European Networks

In today’s European research landscape, professional networks are essential for supporting the work of grant advisors and research administrators. They help build expertise, share best practices, and enhance the overall quality of project management and international cooperation. The EU-GaNoM project benefits from the knowledge and values promoted by several leading networks in this field, notably EARMA, ERACON, INORMS, and BESTPRAC.

• EARMA – European Association of Research Managers and Administrators
EARMA is one of Europe’s most influential communities for research managers and administrators. Through conferences, training programs, thematic groups, and peer-learning initiatives, it fosters the professionalisation of research support services. Its focus on capacity building, recognition of administrative roles, and exchange of best practices aligns directly with the objectives of EU-GaNoM.

• ERACON – European Association of Erasmus Coordinators
ERACON brings together professionals working with Erasmus+ and international mobility. With years of experience in organising staff training weeks, supporting administrative development, and promoting excellence in project management, ERACON offers insights that inspire EU-GaNoM’s training approaches.

• INORMS – International Network of Research Management Societies
INORMS connects research management associations worldwide, encouraging global dialogue and collaboration. By providing access to international standards and innovative practices, INORMS complements EU-GaNoM’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacities and fostering resilience.

• BESTPRAC – European Network for Research Administrators (within EARMA)
BESTPRAC is a European network that brings together administrative, financial, and legal staff from universities and research institutions to support EU-funded and international research projects. Its main goal is to help professionals share experiences, exchange best practices, and strengthen their skills in project administration. BESTPRAC organises workshops, training sessions, and short-term exchanges across institutions, creating a collaborative environment where everyday challenges can be discussed and practical solutions shared. Since 2021, it operates as a thematic group within EARMA, continuing to promote the professional development of research administrators and recognition of their essential role, a mission that aligns closely with EU-GaNoM’s aim to empower grant advisors and build institutional capacity
